Cheerful Heart Center (CHC) is an Egyptian Christian NGO
for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD),
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Down Syndrome.

Cheerful Heart Center (CHC) strives to integrate and support neurodiverse individuals into the community by offering them learning opportunities in a playful atmosphere as well as focusing on supporting the whole family needs to upgrade their living conditions.  Parents, siblings and care givers are our partners in our journey to create a more conducive environment for persons with disabilities to learn new skills and develop their self-esteem to fulfill their highest potential.  Considering the importance of expanding the reach to a larger segment of the Egyptian population with intellectual, developmental disabilities (IDD), Autism and Down syndrome, the center aims at spreading its knowledge and practice by offering academic and practical training workshops and programs to workers in the field of IDD and all those interested.

Achieving the integration of persons with IDD into the community requires that the public understand and become aware of the nature of IDDs, learn, and adopt concepts of accepting diversity. CHC will work on raising public awareness using social marketing campaigns through all forms of media. This long term goal will entail networking with similar organizations inside and outside of Egypt.

“My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn’t prevent you doing well, and don’t regret the things it interferes with. Don’t be disabled in spirit as well as physically.”
